Rochdale Woodcraft Up and coming events

Note that the dates of group nights and the location that we meet have been removed because of child protection issues . All children from all schools aged 5-13 are welcome Parents and carers are always welcome to join in activities whether on a regular or one off basis. So if you have any skills or talents we would welcome you. Also help with photocopying, making drinks/snacks and general assistance during weekly sessions is welcome. We appreciate and request feedback from parents and children so tell us your views.

  • Pioneers/Elfins planting sunflower seeds/uses of sunflowers (Judith/John)
• Sponsored Walk in aid of delegation to Global Village (Clive).
  • Closing date for Height Gate Cost £30. See below.
  • Next payment of £50 due for Global Village*** please make cheques out to ‘Rochdale Woodcraft Folk’ or bring cash.
• Canoeing/Raft building
  • Cost £3 per child, only over eight year olds can go on the water. Meet at Castleton Water Centre, Maltings Lane next to Castleton Railway station. Bring a towel, 3 changes of old clothes and a pair of old shoes/trainers, plastic bag for wet clothes. It is essential to sign a consent form in advance. Parents to drop off and collect children if possible, if not, see leaders for help. (Judith).
  • Younger children are welcome to come along for a walk alongside the canal.
  • No activities at school base.
• Camp at Height Gate Near Hebden Bridge.
  • Cost £30, children will need a sleeping bag and sleeping mat plus clothes, toiletries, tea towel, swimwear, strong shoes, waterproof coat etc (more detailed list to follow). To keep transport costs low, we are not hiring a minibus so we need some parents to drop children off on the road between Todmorden and Hebden Bridge. Please let us know if you can help. No electronic toys/gadgets etc. Maximum spending money; £5. Meet Friday at 6pm, return on Sunday at approx. 5pm
• A walk to Healey Dell or painting mural.
• Taster evening of Ju Jitsu with Tony & Tony
• Send my friend…… helping children in developing countries with Clive.
  • Final payment of due for Global Village you should have paid £150 in total by now.
• First Aid training for children, parents welcome to join in at no charge Judith
• Senegal activites relating to Global Village 2006. We are hosting delegations at the camp and in Rochdale from Senegal. Clive
• End of Year Party! Back in Septmber.
