Hello everyone and welcome to my little contribution to the world of online golfing. As you probably know, there are now a lot of folk playing golf online. This is due in the main to the work of those people (nameless) who brought us the likes of Links 2001 and 2003, yes, I know there are others too - but in my humble opinion these "others" hardly rate a mention, as their graphics and general content are really not in the same league as Links!
So, to continue, this website is aimed mainly at the host of good people out there who play one or other version of Links.

I think my own experience of computer golf began with Golf '99, which came bundled with the first PC I could call my own and at which I persevered until I thought I was quite proficient. Of course, in those halcyon days I didn't even have an Internet connection, let alone a fast processor or a half decent graphics card. But still, I had great fun mastering "the swing" and learning to putt etc. Little did I know the wonders that were yet to come!!

With the advent of the Links LS series of games came the opportunity to pit one's skills against real opponents via an internet connection and this really opened up the possibilities for online golf tournaments, with multiplayer games now a reality.

I can still recall the thrill of installing my first modem, getting it configured correctly and signing up with an Internet Service Provider, oh yes, heady days indeed. Finally, and with not a little trepidation, I endeavored to find an online opponent. This proved to be quite a challenge as it was in the days before I knew about the MSN Gaming Zone, however after making lots of inquiries I finally managed to track down an opponent and arrange a time and date, this was when I first ran into the problems of different time zones etc. All in all I was beginning to wonder if my efforts were worth all this trouble.

But still, I was pretty good at this game and I reckoned to have a good chance of soundly thrashing anyone foolish enough to take on my newly honed skills. How wrong I was!!! In my very first online game of 9 holes, I was totally out-driven, out-chipped, out-putted and out-played! I thought I was doing quite well and finished at a reasonable Par. I had to do a double take at my opponents score - 7 under Par!! It was a humbling experience and indeed very nearly put me off trying again. I continued to play with this kind fellow on a regular basis and he taught me a good deal more about Links and golfing online that I, in my naivety, thought I knew already. For this I will be eternally grateful! Anyhow, I was now hooked and have continued to play and to learn from my online "friends".

I still love playing and I have met many, many good friends through online golf, so I thought maybe I could try to put something back into the game and possibly encourage more people to try it for themselves.

I hope you enjoy my site and find something either useful or amusing
